Im new to the cichlid fish and I have inherited a 79G bowfront tank with several cichlids, most of which I know are african and what they are....all except this one.....
 
Do you have a better picture of it. It could be a compressicep.(maybe!)
 
malawi eyebitter. don't worry. captive breed ones (all found at store,they are so easy to breed that they are sometimes called playboy cichlids) lose this trate
 
turns out that we typted this at the same time but trish's post was a second quicker than mine. compressicep. is the scientific name for malawi eye bitter.
 
I forgot to add that this fish is silver and black and no color or even tint of color to it
 
I don't think that fish is a malawi eye biter...this is one and they appear very different.

that is exactly what the fish looks like. I am guessing that is a female then. I have two of them exactly the same.
