Hello, I'm new to this site..........I have a tank set up that holds a nursery containing red platy fry, which were born on 4/01/09. I had 30, now I have 29 as I found 1 dead earlier. All of my fry look like they are shaking, it appears to not be normal. They do not have any spots on them and the water/tank has been cleaned regularly. They all ate good and I noticed 2 at the bottom of the nursery during feeding time, since then I've lost 1 and I'm afraid of losing more. I've become their mommy for a month now and it breaks my heart. Does anyone know if this is normal or if not, please tell me why they are acting like this? I appreciate anyone's input. Thanks!

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Unfortunately, I can't be of any assistance. One suggestion I can make is that you post your water parameters; this may help those that know more about platys to make an accurate diagnosis.

red platy fry

Yes, this tank had already been established and I've added aquarium salt just last week. I just don't understand it. Thank you to those trying to help.

I'll test the water again and I've been feeding them tropical flake food, crushed into a powder - they seem to go nuts at feeding time.

i've posted a video of my "shaking" red platys on YouTube under "FishMommie". If you can view it and please tell me what's wrong with them, I'd greatly appreciate it!!! :-)

I went to youtube and looked at fishmommie, but I don't see a vid with the fish shaking.

Please post: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, (gh, kh, if possible) and temp.
I hope they will be OK. There maybe someone with more experience with platys that can help, but a good start is to give us those parameters.
