Please help me identify this plec

I got it for $15 at my lfs. It was labled as a 'mama pinto' but I think it's an Adonis pleco. I'm not sure; thanks for any help you can give me in identifying this lil guy. He's only about 1.5"

yes you are correct. Acanthicus Adonis, they grow VERY large, can be a bit aggressive and territorial.

what a bargian.............in australia they are $500

Are those spots yellow or white?
Better chance for a positive ID over at Plecofanatics or Planetcatfish forums with your pics...
But I too believe thats the correct ID after checking ...

This fish grows between 40 and 60 cm long.

wow.. isnt that like *thinks* 20-25 inches? Hope you have enough space for it if it grows that big

Thanks everybody, I'll double check over at the catfish sites.
The spots are more of a yellow than white, but more of a creamy yellow.

This 'lil guy' will be going in a 180 with some oscars when he's large enough.

I agree on the Adonis ID. THe tails on those are amazing. I'm glad that you have a large aquarium for it

It's definitely Acanthicus adonis. That 24" measurement is WITHOUT any finnage, btw. They really get huge. They also get an attitude at about 6 inches. He should be fine with your oscars!

I believe that their spots begin to fade as they grow larger.
