Hi,

My friend gave me this pleco today, and i was wondering what kind it is? It is about 3.5" long. The pictures, does not really show it's color very well. It is light brown, with patches of reddish/orange. If you have any idea, please let me know. It may just be a common pleco, I am not sure.

Thanks for the help.

You took the words out of my mouth. I saw one at my lfs in his koi pond - 12 inches long! Beautiful, but holey cow was he huge!

right now the pleco, and about 7 small cichlids(1") are in a 75 gallon. But very soon, I plan on putting them in a 125. all I have to do, is get the tank cycled first. Yeah my sister has a 16" common pleco. here is a pic of him!

Wow - I really love plecos. They are such awesome prehistoric looking fish. Your sister's doing well with the pleco - he looks very happy and healthy.

That is a GORGEOUS common plec, if it's common. I don't ever see any in this part of the world that look like that, with the coloring and markings as such. For a common, it's fantabular!

Are you talking about the big one? She calls him Shamu. He will not quit growing at all. He is very fat, on the belly he has alot of white, he has a very mild temper, but he does not like big fish, my sister had to move him from her display tank, to her other community tank. If the fish are 5" and under, he acts like an angel, if you put him with anything bigger than that, he will slap the fish with his tail, suck the sides of them, and act like a psycho pleco. So now he chills with my sisters community fish. He is very entertaining to watch, i also think he has ADHD. Not shy at all!
