Please help regarding Java Fern

I have a java fern that sometimes gets a few spots like those, but not nearly as many. I wouldn't trim off the leaves, maybe just the worst one, if you must, but from the photo it looks like you'd be cutting it down to a stump. give it a few weeks to settle in, watch for root growth and new plants. I'd seperate new plants off and tie them somewhere else, maybe higher in the tank closer to light, to encourage more growth.

thats my pic.. lol

The OP didnt post a pic yet :silly:

when i first picked up my java fern (and a few other plants) they all did the same thing. the spots would get bigger and biggger until the leaves looked pretty much dead but then the new shoots would come up and be perfectly healthy. my guess is the leaves get too stressed out or cant adapt to the new water parameters and they die off. like i said alot of my plants went through this cycle but they all turned out great. i'd leave the leaves on the rhizome or main plant or whatever though until you can see evidence of new growth then remove the older ones.

dang thats awesome, think of all the plants i've wasted
