I have a new (to me) 55 gallon aquarium. The top center brace is broken. We filled it up and the glass bowed and we could have had 55 gallons of water in the floor. :thud:
I talked to a guy at a lfs and he said that I could buy a replacement part and fix it. I just am not too sure on where to get it. It is an All Glass Aquarium. I have been to their website and will check into ordering it from them. But wanted to check and see if anyone here had any ideas first. Thanks ahead of time.

I called two days ago for the entire top trimming for a 125 gallon, and was told that they don't sell directly to consumers. You have to go to the find a local dealer page. On this page you type in your state, and different cities will come up. Select you city or nearest city and a list of pet stores will come up. They will have to order it for you. Mine will cost $30, so a 55 should be less than that. Good luck!!

This is on the all glass web page?

go to a local shop and see if they would Order it for ya, I got mine from there

Very, VERY sorry to hear that. :( Good luck getting it fixed. Hope the water didn't cause much damage.

Don't go to an aquarium store to get that. Go to your local glass shop (where you buy your house windows) and ask for a pice of glass that matches the size you need.

Measure the center piece and ask the people there to give a piece the same size and width. Then , using a sharp knife, cut the glue holding the old piece and remove it (careful). Then place the new one in the same place and glue it with silicone.

For a 55 gallon, this should be less than $10.

Read these instructions on how to biuld your own tank and go ahead.

*** Edited: I misspelled the work ask, and I got 3 little *'s instead of it. Double ss whas the culprit. :P

I just found something today at Home Depot for the exact same thing. I have a 92 corner tank and had to design my a custom plexiglass cover for it so I could use my filtration systems. The plexiglass bows big time and I needed something to brace it and hold it up.

I spent about 40 minutes at Home Depot and found what I think is the perfect fit. It was in the hardware isle. They sell aluminum (this is the best since it won't rust like metal would) pieces for about $3 to $4. They have different lengths, just cut with a hack saw the perfect length and you are set. They also have different widths as well. They are called FLAT PLAT, the upc number is 030699447107.

Good Luck, I hope it works out for you.

OK...sorry...I am confused. I do not need glass. I need the plastic bracket that is all the way around the top of the aquarium that also has a piece that runs through the middle that supports the hoods. That middle bracket is what is broken. It is snapped off from one of the long sides of the tank. I was told, like patoloco said, that I could take a knife and run it along the edge, inside and out, and it will pop off. Then I can put sealer on the glass and slide the new bracket back on. When I do this I was also going to reseal all of the seams on the inside of the tank to reinforce all of the seams. I do not think there was any damage done for it never leaked. It held water for over a day and then we drained and replaced the entire tank. This all happened at my father's house. He gave the tank to me. So now then....I think I might have this as claer as mud. Any suggestions?

By the way...I do not understand at all what Themadblimper meant by their reply.
