The rain water cancels out the ammonia and the ph. The chlorine is from the tap water not the rain water. It makes it good for my goldfish

What is nitrite? Both in the aquarium and tap water.

nitrate in aquarium is 6d and 3D in tap water

Not nitrate (NO3) as you already posted that, I'm asking about nitrite (NO2).

UPDATE: in absolute tears but going to have to euthanise greg tomorrow, just getting worst and hate to see him suffer. No one knows what up and I’ve tried everything. So sad to see him go

I'm sorry for your loss. Due to inbreeding/deformities short bodied goldfish have a lot of genetic problems, next to the regular goldfish issues. Please make sure to read this link:
