Please help

good job rescuing a fish. it gives you a really good feeling inside lol

i can relate... long sotry short my aunts neighbor was moving and they didnt want to take their fish with them, so they were going to just throw everything away and flush the single fish taht was in there. she tild them no, and that iher nephew (me) would take the fish. it turns out it was an angelfish. the tank was a 5 gallon. she was in there for two years, and when i got her she was around an inch long. since i put her in a much bigger tank, she has grown a bit, only 1 1/2 inches, and she has stopped there and probably wont grow anymore. it feels good to have saved her and to make the rest of her life comfortable... its sad that the fish with the most vibrant fins and best personalities are subjected to debilitatingly small tanks.

get him out of the tank ASAP! he will thank you for it.

good job with saving him, he's got some great colors

he almost looks like a geo

got a pic of a geo?

i say so because of his body shape,
he's a nice dempsey though, great color

heres a picture from jeff rapps of a Geophagus Steindachneri

It's a dempsey:)
Kudos on saving him, it's pretty uncommon to see them that big, and VERY uncommon to see them get that big in such a small tank. His head is probably shaped the way it is due to being in the tiny tank.
That fish is proof that they don't "grow to the size of the tank"
It also looks like he has some HITH, which is probably due to poor water quality and a crappy diet. Clean water and a variety of food will have him happy in no time:)
