Ok... got 2 more plants. one labeled "Amazon Fern" and one labeled "Assorted Crypts".

Tried redoing the tank. Ended up looking even uglier than before. How do you people aquascape so well?!

Amazon fern?? Hmm.... It looks more like a melon sword...

Assorted Crypts? Oh boy. When I tried taking the clip off, I broke 2 stems and ripped the plant itself in half (oh well... 2 crypts are better than one, i guess)... One's 18" and the other's 4"...

Here comes the questions...

1)My wpg is 1.25 wpg, can i keep these plants?

2)Do crypts have rhyzomes?

3)(YEEES!!!! I FINALLY GOT FLOURISH TABS!!!!) are you supposed to just stick them in or cover them under gravel?

4)Do root tabs work on roots that stick out?

5)(YES!!!! GOT FLOURISH EXCEL!!!! FINALLY!!!!) does this affect the plants in my sig (in a negative way)? Especially the crypt?

6)I'll try to get a pic up but can you rate my tank? better than last time or worse? and this time, if you have a negative comment, just say it right here. I don't care. (and if you can, list suggestions).

do crypts have to be planted in places where the gravel is deep?

one of my crypts are in 1/2" gravel and the other seems to have the roots out of the gravel....

Crypts do develop massive root systems, the deeper the gravel, the better.

With the root tabs, stick them in the gravel as close to the bottom of the tank as possible. Be careful not to disturb that area you buried it in at all when gravel vacuuming for the next few months or you will risk releasing a load of phosphates into the water column and causing an algae bloom.

Your wattage per gallonis on the low light side. Be careful with root tabs and other ferts as you may end up with a massive algae bloom. Also, you don't need excel for that low of light wattage.

NOOOOOOO!!!!! Dangit! I got the excel as a christmas gift (yeah i don't get much good stuff)!!! argh, why do I always get stuff people tell me to get, then others tell me that i didn't have to buy it! :duh:

But one of my crypts have roots out of the gravel (half is in the gravel)... is it ok?

and is it ok the the crypts have 1" of gravel? argh! I don't want to put my hand in that tank again!

You can still use the Florish excel even with that amount of lighting. It is made for these types of situations that the plants may need some co2 but not a full blown co2 system. The florish excel will not hurt your plants or your fish and may help keep the algae at bay.

man, he was SUCH a good algae eater... and just when i get a bunch of algae attacking my tank, he's gone! well, my snail's having a blast though...
