Please recommend me a fish for my tank :) 35G

I like barbs, well in general I like fishes which swim in schools it's very awesome to observe their social activity.

And I want my wish to be comfortable in a 35 Gallon tank.

Also I want to have some small catfish - a couple may be.

Can anyone recommend some nice combination of fishes? Thanks in adwance

Hi! I haven't seen you around before, so welcome to AC! :D

Rosy barbs would be great, or cherry barbs, since you mentioned that you like barbs. If you don't like those, I'd recommend black ruby barbs. They are beautiful, and more peaceful than tigers, again, and look awesome in a school. You could keep a school of any of the barbs I mentioned, with a school of corydoras catfish. You could keep 8-12 of the barbs, and 8-10 corydoras (depending on what species you like). In addition to your schools, you could also add a centerpiece fish if you'd like. A blue acara, festivum, angelfish, or fish of similar temperament would work out great IMHO.

I didn't know cichlids can live together with barbs and I had no idea cories are swimming in school.

I used to have Odessa Barb/Scarlet Barb - these guys http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=830+880+1009&pcatid=1009

but it seems it's hard to find them.

one more question.
how to add fish to a tank - should I add whole school - 8-10 fishes or should it be from different vendors one at a time?

What kind of fish first to add? Right now I've setup aquarium with plants and will wait for few weeks.

What other leaving creatures I can add? I have 2 small snails those hitchhiked to my tank on a plants :)
