Well, a pleco i had a while back ate almost every type of plant i had in there. The one i have now in my recently cycled tank is only about 1" long, so he doesnt really seem be doing quite as much damage to them, if any at all..(hope to catch him in a spot that i can take a good pic of him to ask what kind he is later. it resembles 2 types that i have seen, but doesnt look like either of them at the same time???).

I have been considering setting up another tank, any suggestions on a algae eating fish that will not destroy plants quite as bad?

Are there any types of foods to give them that will keep them healthy so they dont have to live off algae and any leftover food that may have fell to the bottom other than shrimp pellets or things like that? and possibly keep them from eating so many plants..:)

1 more question, can anyone give me an average on how fast they will grow...this may depend on what type it is, if so ill ask again if i can ever snap a good picture of him to post...

i hope this wasnt covered in a recent post i overlooked, oh well.

thanks

Ordinary "plecos" and planted tanks don't mix well. Your best bet would be to purchase some Siamese algae eaters, otos, and maybe a bristlenose. You will need to feed your vegetarian fish with algae wafers, garden peas, zuccini, and cucumber to keep them happy. If they don't get their "greens," they'll go after your plants instead.
