pleco fora 29g community tank

there are over 200 species of plecos that could work in that tank.

are you looking for a pleco to look real sweet or a pleco to eat algae?

What are you talking about? Can you please name the over 200 species that would fit in a 29gal? Just because there are many small species of pleco, It doesn't mean they are ever imported for sale.

www.exoticfinds.net imports dozens of plecos for sale and they can get species not listed on their webpage. Depending on the country, there could be the possibility of choosing from 200 species of plecos. I know that Japan and some European countries have a huge selection of imports. There are over 800 species or more estimated in the world and it wouldn't be too far fetched to estimate 1/4 were available with the right search.

FYI, the site I mentioned above lists maximum sizes of their plecos.

I was merely saying how many different kinds of plecos could concevieably work in that tank. by saying that I was encouraging the OP to hunt around and not just think that there are only 3-4 species thatt can work. factoring avalibilty and all that, and if you limit your seach to LFSs in and around your town, i'd say maybe about 8-10 if you look hard enough and have some good stores. using the internet, though, you could easily get a selection of over 200 species as dr. gold said.

Best thing is to think about what your tank is like now and what you want it to be in the future and then use that to research, research, research a particular pleco.

for example...perhaps you would like to have a nice planted tank which is fine but there's nothing like a large horse destroying your plantings when you are just getting started with a foreground later on. If you don't have another tank for your pleco while this foreground roots you are not good.

hope this helps...

Trinidad pleco or common pleco according to what most LFS sell, should be only sold to seasoned aquarium owners.
