Pleco hidey hole suggestions

My pleco is too large for the place he used to hide in, now I'm stuck with what to give him to hide in/behind. He's about 8 inches long. I put in a thick glass long vase today, and half buried it. Then I put driftwood on top of it. The fish love it, he hasn't tried it yet. I can't think of anything else. I'd love a cave he could swim through or because my tank is 24" deep, maybe something that goes from top to bottom that he can hang on too behind it. Or any suggestions would be great!
 
how big is the cat in question? My plecos (ancistrus to be precise) haven't used anything artificial as they love to suck on wood. Its actually kind of funny... there are a couple holes where the bushy nose will have her head stuck in there (where its dark) but the rest of the body is out in the open.

I have heard of PVC being used for cave/cover before... you could always go complicated and do concrete or something like that.
 
He's a common, right now about 8 inches long, about 3 inches wide. I hate something not natural in the tank, which is why I'm not a big fan of the glass in there right now. I was thinking maybe a 3 sided cave made of slate? maybe a longer piece of slate for the top for an over hang and 2 smaller pieces on the side to hold it up? How would I keep it all toghter, stainless steel screws? He could have the bottom as a swim-through cave, and on the top I could plant things?

I would personally keep an eye out for a nice piece of driftwood though. I have a couple nice pieces that are flat and kinda arched so that catfish can hang out under them in complete shade, yet they're still visible through certain holes.

Plus you could put plants on it, and it will look really natural.
 
How about a big piece of driftwood, planted vertically so he can hang behind it? :idea:
 
My plecos NEVER used the artificial caves I gave then. I guess they just like the convenience of having wood to suck on nearby,

IM not exactly sure if these are suitable for aquariums, but in the vivarium section at the petstore, they have these arches for lizards to hide under.
