What do I have here? I got him last August, and the fs guy told me he would gladly take him back when he gets to big for my 55, but I don't think he's grown at all.

Thanks for your help!

looks like the common pleco, they grow very very very slow

well, that's cool! Everytime I say I have a pleco in a 55, people jump to tell me how fast he'll outgrow the tank. And I've gotten quite attached to my little plecosaurus... :)

Well, they are quite right in saying the pleco can outgrow the tank but they have to consider any possible plans of tank size upgrades and growth rate. If you don't have plans to upgrade, I'd of course recommend replacing it with species that are even smaller such as bristlenose, Panaque maccus or the popular whiptails.

definatly a common... beutiful fish, they look AMAZING when they are upwards of a foot in length, take a very long time to reach this tough

im guessing a at least a year or 2 before youve got to trade him in

Are you giving him food? I have an albino gibby. The LFS had 3, I got one, the other two are still there. Mine is now about 4 inches, while the 2 that are left are still about 2.5 inches. This has been over 2 months.
