hey all, i have only ever seen bristole nose over here, does anyone know if you can get em in australia

There are quite a few varieties available, none are legal to import so stock is occasional and ussually quite expensive. Keep your eyes open, larger aquarium stores will ussually get them in from time to time.
I live in South Australia (strict laws, I cant even have cons, Red devils and even koi for a pond), my local fish store currently has a comman pleco about 7" for $99 and a store closer to Adelaide oftenly has plecos in, I'm interested in a sailfin pleco (they're not cheap though).
