Sexing Chaetostoma spp. from www.planetcatfish.com

Males have a somewhat larger and broader head, slimmer ventral sides and disproportionately large pelvic fins. Perhaps the over-sized pelvic fins play a large role in the fertilization of the eggs. By inverting these over the clutch of eggs, they prevent the sperm cells being carried away too fast in the current. The upper lip of males becomes swollen and ''fleshy'' when in peak spawning condition.

I have 2 of them, no idea if mine are male or female though (although it would be nice if I had a pair). They love zucchini, tried cucumber but they ignored it.

Well, I can tell you this. I didn't have any luck with mine and I think you can tell the gender difference by the male having longer and more tentacle like barbels on his face. I might be mistaken for a bristlenose, but I'm not sure. Don't take my word for it.
