could someone please explain to me the difference between the pleco with the red eyes and the same with the black eyes.... I am looking for the pleco that basically goes yellow - nice bright lemon yellow...(the ones I have seen in the LPS look sort of a blonde color - do they get yellower with age?? . are they both the same except for the eye color? ... anyways I WANT to purchase the bright yellow one, so what should I look for? Thanks in advance!

l144 have blue eyes

How about red with brown eyes?

So basically what I am trying to figure out is do I have to look for the ones with the black eyes in order to get the bright yellow fish? Or is it totally irrelevant? For instance in your tank Todd you have sort of blondish fish and more yellow.... will the blondish ones STAY that way or go yellow with age?

Albino BN do become more yellow as they grow, and they're the only ones with red/pink eyes (actually just from lack of pigment.)
Here's some old pics of albino's that I grew out a bit from fry (red fry in front in first pic):

Nice fish Todd! Albinos have red eyes, "L144" have dark eyes as I understand it, but ask before you buy, not everyones terms are the same. Personally I prefer the yellower dark eyed plecs to others, like you (I think lol)
