The brackish water is probably starting to take its toll on him. I'm no expert on how freshwater fish do in brackish water, but my guess is the BW is slowly weakening him. His immune system probably is fragile and can't fight off infections and such. I suggest getting him out of there.

I agree. That's not good for him and it seems to be finally getting to him.

Sorry but I have to agree. Many fish will last for a period of time in brackish water but eventually the weakening of his immune system will start to take its toll on him. From what I understand plecos will start to get a sunken in head when they aren't eating and when this happens they are soon to die.

Also what type of pleco is it? There are many varieties of plecos that are actually meat eaters and not veggie eaters. Also many plecos need drift wood in their diet to stay healthy. Knowing what type of pleco you have and understanding its needs are very important.

I am not trying to be particularly nasty, but the poster wants to be told that the pleco is fine in BW, which I hope will never happen here. This is going on in multiple threads now.

If you do not like the answers you are given, start another thread.
