Pleco questions from newbie

If you're set on a pleco, then the dwarf type would be best...HOWEVER...yes, here it comes...MOST do not affectively eat algae.

I have 4 Panaque maccus (Clown Panaque) in my 55 Gal. They, as well as most of the other small plecco types REQUIRE driftwood.

If you want/need something to effectively eat algar, then get a small school of Ottos. If you like Plecos because they're beautiful creatures, then by all means, get a single Clown, Queen, Zebra, Golden Nugget, bristlenose, or Etc within the small species. Just remember, Plecos are Poop Machines when they get to a decent size. Lots of waste produced.

As far as species details, check out www.planetcatfish.com as they have the most information in one place!

PEACE!

Thanks to the internet nothing is hard to find.

You are definitely right.
i guess will try to exhaust loacal sources before i order from the internet.

bristlenoses and rubberlips will get 4-6 inches or so, at least 30g tanks for them.

in addition to algae wafers, lots of plecos love zucchini.
