Pleco Rerranging tank?

I have sand as my substrate in my tank, and i came home from work just now, and looked at my tank. It looked a bit cloudy, then realized the sand was moved around a lot.

it looks like the pleco had schootched himself into a pot i have in there, then moved all the sand out of it. and moved the sand from all around it too. is this a normal thing? moving the sand and pots around?

i was worried it might be a sign of like, incontentment. I hope this sint the case.

have you had this happen before?

Most likely just getting the hiding palce decorated to his liking.
also possible he is looking for food. My pleco tends to disrupt a lot more when I'm not around to feed him every day.`I have watched him clean gravel and in the process move everything within 6" of his body at least twice. Mine is a real pig and seems to eat 18 hours a day or so. when I feed him well on the weekends, he leaves the substrate alone and sticks to the driftwood and glass, when he's not been fed for 3-4 days he really cleans everything up nicely, and moves a good bit of it in the process. This is one of the reasons many plant people don't like Pleco's, I favor my royal over my plants so The tank will just have to be decorated to his standards.

Mine does that too. He amkes a little nest and pushes all the gravel out. You plec might like some veggies added to his diet as well..... Mine lovs fresh Spinich, zuchinni & cucumber. Get a veggie clip from your LFS and you can put the food in the same place every night...

I am totally one of those people.

My royal pleco noses around all the time in my planted tank. Stem plants have a very hard time until securely rooted, and sometimes that can be tricky. I would prefer him not to be there now but my 30g planted is the only tank I have that can house him, and theres no way I can sell him or give him up, hes 3 years old now and is a true 'pet'

Another reason oto's are a great alternative to plecos.
