Pleco stock question

As you slowly add species that occupy the same niche (food and space- wise) observe to see if anyone is acting up. Some species are more night creatures so especially watch at night for obnoxious activity. Remember that each fish is an individual and what might be OK in one specimen may be a problem for another.

Mixing catfish may suit us but not the fish and they do not ask for the situations they are put into.

Walk softly and be prepared.

I am leaning towards a 40 gallon breeder with approx 4 plecs, lots of driftwood and caves and maybe a school of .....?....for the upper level. This of course will not be till later in the year as we will be moving this summer - so no new tank till after we move...
Lupie - I will take a look at the L010a's...;)

Duh!!! L010a - I have one of those and I love the little guy! (I never remember the numbers)

OK Noodles, this is probably more along the lines of what you are hoping to hear, but definitely goes against the grain of what everyone else has said ! I have had a 46 BF for just about a year. In it, there are 4 adult L399/400s (all males-looking for females !), 3 sub adult L333s, one L015, and one which may be an L240 or 241. And until recently, there was also an ABN female in with them (I gave the female away to a friend). Throw in 3 farlos, and I have presently 12 plecos in my tank ! They have all been in there, with the exception of the farlos, for almost the full year (and I did add 2 L399s about 6 months ago). And they all get along fine. I have at least 12 caves (slate and ceramic), and many other hiding places for them to go. So, I would say, give it a shot-4, 6, 8--who knows ? Like H3D says "if you're not overstocking, you're not trying "! Good luck !

What she said :iagree:

ESP in a breeder tank they have a ton of floor space

I still have to add the caves and 7 more peices of wood but the dimentions are awesome and i hardly see them .........just b4 lights out they start to stir .
It is so wide we can watch tv through it ...
and it looks like a 90 half the height (lol)

Beautiful tank Blossom! I definitely think a 40 breeder is the way I will go, w/ up to 6 plecs. I was thinking about a school of longfin gold danios (maybe) for something to watch when they are all hiding! I can't wait to get this one up and running........:grinyes:

Thanks ...
in case your woundering the dimentions are
40g Hagen 36*18*15

You could build a stand to make it cheaper .
co2 and everything else will cost lol

We have an extra stand ................OH boy you know whats coming next

a 40 breeder is like the mecca of tanks for pleco owners its a really nice size.

On a side note I have a 29 gallon planted tank with 3xL204, and one L260. No problems there.

I love plecos too, I USUALLY keep only two per tank but I was like what the heck I like the L204 and they don't muck with the plants. My breeding angel fish are more of a nusance then anyone else in there.

However I did just get a decently sized rubberlip pleco thats bullying my blue panaque around. This must stop or the rubberlip will be evicted and doomed to live his life in the fry tank.

....or I have an excuse to setup another tank.

:thm: you have a blue eyed .......awesome ..........

I would say its a good excuse for a breeder tank lol :lipssealedsmilie:

i forgot to add everyone says its 40 gl but it is actually 43 or 45 gl lol
