yeah, they can exist together. Plecos can exist with almost any freshwater fish. They have armored skin, so that may deter oscars from attacking.

I dunno if you should add one just for algae control. To my knowledge they don't really help with algae problems and their ubiquitious stringy poop clings to everything and gets really annoying.
