Plecos and cichlids

are there any colorful fish that i could put in with the pleco?

I would go Central American Cichlids with the following:

Amphilophus trimaculatus
'Cichlasoma' grammodes
Herichthys bocourti
Nandopsis haitiensis
Parachromis motaguense 'red tiger'

And maybe some of those real nice wild convicts or Honduran red points

When those grow a bit bigger I'd think they'd punk the plecs around..but 720g is alot of space so who knows

those are nice, but they dont really match the environment i have in the tank.

Thanks everyone. ill look into the CA/SA cichlids
which is exactly what i suggested in the first place.

if those fish i suggested are not colorful, then i don't know what is.

i would only go with New World cichlids because of the similar water requirements (soft acidic water is ideal)
really? boy, all those cichlids living in Central American are going to be very surprised to find that the water they've been living in for perhaps thousands of years is hard and alkaline.

more inland SA species come from soft/acidic to neutral waters
. thanks. nice to find somebody who knows something about new world cichlids. :)

You may be right. I got excited about the space, but there are 10 plecos and the more I think about it I shouldn't underestimate a Cichlids potential pugnacity.

sorry bout the confusion.........my decisions are constantly changing.

Ill buy about 6 severums next time i visit the LFS.
thanks for your help.
