Hi im new. Im planning on getting a couple of plecos and i was wondering
what are some other fish species that will get along with them. (as well as
when the plecos age.)

depends on what kind of plecos you are talking about. there are dwarf species that will live with anything that is not a predator like pirahna. if you are getting larger plecos then they will be better off with south american cichlids. i keep plecos with my african cichlids and with my discus, they have a purpose.

Also you need to be sure that you have a tank large enough for a pleco. For a common pleco you need a HUGE tank. Closer to 180G mark. Sure they look small in the store, but they get to 2 feet long and have a HUGE waste load to go with them. They really get along fine with most tropical fish. If you have never had a pleco, be sure to do your research. They dont just need algae to survive. If not properly cared for, it is very easy for them to starve to death. Also, you need a very good filtration system as they produce so much waste.

Do you think Pl*co's produce as much waste as an Oscar? and I have read that they produce more mess than they clean up, any opinions on this?

Well, first off it seems to me regular plecos in captivity pretty much never get up to two feet. Anyways i was thinking of getting a 46G tank but im not
sure. I mean come on one pleco and maybe one or two other fish under 3"
that's not to bad.

....Well if this is too small of a tank what about a gold nugget catfish and a
bristlenose catfish? Who would get along with them?

I haven't seen one get that large either, but I have to admit I've seen a ton that get to be over a foot! and thats a lot of fish in my opinion.

Gold Nugget Plecos would do fine with tetras and pretty much anything. As long as they have PLENTY of driftwood to munch on they will be OK. I feed mine a slice of cucumber every week but otherwise he's on the wood. You can put a gold nugget and a bristlenose if you wanted, both grow VERY slow and wont get too huge.

With a 46 gallon tank you could do both plecos, some top dwellers, and a few schools of tetras or whatever you want. In a 46 a common pleco could easily grow to over a foot and mine is much happier in my boss's goldfish pond.

Yeah i guess i won't get a common pleco just because i don't want him to get
big and hardly have any room to swim around in. By the way, what do you guys think of directly ordering a fish? I mean i guess it's not much different than buying a fish at a petstore right?
