YAY my plecos mated! im going to be a grand daddy!

they mated today and the male albino bristle nose is guarding the eggs now. i have a few questions about general care for the fry. how long would it take for the eggs to hatch? do they need special care? would the fry be prey for my adult angel fish?

Hi BrkD,
The eggs should hatch in 4-5 days. Then dad will guard the young still in the cave for at least a week after that,so don't worry that they are not coming out. They are so tiny when they come out of the cave, yes your Angels may eat them. While the babies are real little they don't seem to hide quite so much while the tank light is on....they're right there out in the open. Just keep doing what you normally do, small water changes and normal feedings. Mine stay mostly on the glass and the plant leaves for the first couple of weeks, then I'd see them on the zucchini slices.

Good luck! They are adorable!!

Just looked at your "tank journal"......gorgeous tank!!! They have a lot of places to hide. They might be okay in there after all!

There is no maybe about it, the angels will eat the fry. BN babies tend to be on the glass a lot and they will get picked off. In a well planted tank there will be a few survivors but most will be lunch.

can't wait for the pics!
