I have a 36 gallon bowfront. I plan on putting 1 Angelfish, 10 Rummynose Tetras, and some type of fish for the bottom that's from the amazon.

So, I either want 2 Bristlenose Plecos or 6 Sterbai Corys. Which one should I get and why?

Dk the full answer for you but it all depends on what you would like to look at.
I personally have had a pleco and it didnt move but more than a few inches its entire life span (a full year) then i put it into my pond seeings as it got too big for the tank.

Im actually considering moving to corys bc they tend to play much more around the tank.

like to see other answers tho myself.

I'd go with both, with that stocking plan you'd have room to work with. I'd probably only get one bn pleco though. If you have DW in the tank it will probably spend a lot of time in it, and on the tank walls. I've got a group of corys, a bn, and some angels in a 33 bowfront myself and it works fine, the tallness of the tank really makes for a lot of space between the bottom dwellers and the angels.

Just wait until fishycat sees this. One conversation with her on cories and you will end up with a tankful of them! lol. Gotta love them though!

Each of them has a purpose. Bristlenoses eat algae while corydoras are more substrate sifters (eating leftover food). It really depends what you want them. Id get a BN pleco and the 6 Sterbais.

I love my BN's, I would reccomend getting them young. It's cool to watch them grow from tiny babies and to watch them bristle. Corys are cool though, but my favorites are pygmys. Pygmys will be eaten by your angel though...

Do you have any experience with angels eating pygmy corys? I have both adult angels and pygmies and I just don't see it happening. Maybe with a very small pygmy, but still, angels really aren't designed to eat a fish of any substantial size.

Okay, so should I get 6 sterbais and 1 bristlenose because 2 bristlenoses will fight or something?

Also, I'll make it 12 Rummynoses since I have room!

2 male Bristlenose will probably fight - a pair will probably breed.

Personally I would just get one BN, they are good algae eaters, wont hassle your other fish, and wont outgrow the tank. Just they often spend all day sucked onto the bottom of a hunk of driftwood, and only come out after "lights out". Then you still have space for a small school of Corys.
