I have had my Plecostomus for about a month now and just yesterday i noticed that it is very pale it is usually very dark almost black but now it looks kind of white is this normal? Thanks

Kasakato is correct, but just as a side comment, my common pleco would change color such as you mention... that is, sometimes darker, sometimes more pale.

Thank you thats what i was wondering i don't know really what kind it is all it said at Jack's pets was a sm plecostomus the tank is a 10 gallon with lots of live plants. he stays kind of pale sometimes and then dark some of the other times.

Gah! The reason he is paling is because he's too cramped! He'll need 55 gallons by himself as he grows to anywhere from 12 inches to 18 inches!!!

And NO, he won't grow to the tank size!

You know Oddball, you could be nicer about the way you say things.

You know?

this may just be me but i do not see anything wrong with keeping a pleco in the 10g. If it is a juvie keep it in there until desired effect or until he looks a bit too big for the tank. If you will keep the pleco in there you just be very dilagent with the water changes be carefull not to let the pleco get big for the tank.

when it is big for the tank 3"(depending on other fish in tank) either trade in or put in a bigger tank.

/steps back and waits for flames

Well you'll get no flames from me. That was a very good peice of information that you gave out and it's good that this site has people like you on it, while on the other hand we have *******s who TRY and say the same thing in their own ****ty mean way.

I have a Marble Sailfin Pleco and he is pale when he sleeps. He also goes pale when disturbed....mainly by me doing maintenance - water changes, etc.
