Could you get a picture of the face?

Definately not albino. Not a peacock either. I sent you a PM, but now that i see the fish its not a yellow lab, or at least not a normal one. Could be a hybrid "yellow yellow" variety.

Could be a saulosi like the ones in my avatar, or some sort of zebra. The darkish markings on its side look kinda like some sort of melanochromis (johanii?), because of the vertical and horizontal. Might even be a hybrid. Until it gets older you might not know what you have because of a lot of these guys will change color when they mature if they are males.

I would watch it very closely. They need a high ph of about 8.0 and moderately hard water. These guys are also vegetarian, and should be fed mainly spiraluna flake, which is very different from what you are most likely feeding your other fish. They succomb to bloat very easily.

Also it will most likely make a good meal of your ottos and snails when it gets larger, since these fish reach over 4" in length (depending on the sex and species). They also become very territorial and aggressive, and most likely will wreack havoc on your peaceful tank.

I love these fish though, and you might consider setting up another tank for them :D

Just goes to show you not to always believe what the pet store employee tells you, right? ;)

yes your right, can't listen to them!

i'm limited in resourses, petco, petsmart and petworld is what around me.

thanks for the PM, i just responded. by there is a lfs i haven't picked his brains yet on cichlid, but well do.

Poo its still really hard to tell.... im not sure.... i will call in some more expert advice and get back to you soon about what we think it is. ;)

The body is leaning me towards guessing saulosi but the darkish markings on the side are different. Hmmm....
