yep, that's a krib. Not an apisto, but is very similar in water chem requirements, breeding habits, and aggression. They get a little larger, so there is more chance that they could damage tankmates, but all and all can be treated as apistos.

Yup, that there is a Krib. :) It's an african species...found in central africa(Nigeria) in rivers and river deltas in both freshwater and brackish.

i would have to agree that this species is a krib from the photo i've seen here. BUT seeing it personally could be a tottally diffrent story. Very often a species of fish name Pelvacrhomis look very similar to kribs, and are often simply labeled as kribs. It would be hard to tell with the picture you provided. If you were lucky enough to pick up a pelvacrhomis than you most likely got yourself a deal considering that species is considerably more expensive than the closely resembling Krib.

Actually the 'Krib' or Kribensis is a Pelvicachromis. 'Pelvicachromis Pulcher' to be exact. Pelvicachromis is the 'genus' while pulcher is the 'species'
There are a few species of Pelvicachromis that are closely related to P. pulcher(Kribensis), namely:
Pelvicachromis humilis, Pelvicachromis roloffi, Pelvicachromis rubrolabiatus, Pelvicachromis signatus, Pelvicachromis subocellatus, and Pelvicachromis taeniatus.
