Plywood tank build

If you are going to use Pond Coat you will not need to put resin in the corners, save your money. As far as the pond coat sticking to silicone I have heard that it does not. But, silicone has been tested and sticks very well to Pond Coat. I am currently in the middle of applying Pond Coat to the inside of my tank and sump and the stuff is very nice to work with.

Thanks, gonna order a gal of pond coat tomorrow, hopefully it gets here fast!

The idea with the fiberglass is for strength to keep the plywood from bowing and possible separation of the plys. Along with that it would also make a great sealer and he could chose a pigment color that he would like as well.

Thanks xsdbs, also the stand for the tank will be the same foot print of the tank. I will then wrap the stand with 2x6 splitting it between the stand and tank, and screwing the 2x6 border into stand. I have been told that there will 120#'s per square foot, I cut a 1' sq out of the plywood remnants and tried to break it by standing on it, stomping on it, jumping on it, and finally hitting it with a hammer to get it to fail. I leaned the plywood in the gutter in the street on an angle. Dont really know how scientific that was, but Im 220#'s myself. After that I feel pretty confident in this build. It's the seams that worry me. I rambling, too many beers.
Thanks

Got any progress pics?

I do have some progress pics, thanks for asking. I have not screwed the top down yet, becaue I havent got the glass yet. Im gonna take down the 75,and use the 2 emporer 400's, and the magnum 350, as well as make a DIY trickle filter with the rubbermaid tub that you'll see on top of the tank. I have to find a "costant duty" pump, sorry the term escapes me right now.If any one out there wants to sell one or can tell me where to find one cheap. Im not goin with solid plumbing, but rather tubing. I have bad experience with pvc, just dont have the patience. Well enough babling here's the pics.
