PMMD mixture (Mgamer20o0)

^ notice the reference to PO4. kh2po4, fleet enema, lots of fish food and po4 abundant tap water...

Thanks Tom...Maybe you can answer this since noone on the other site did.

Is there anything else I really need add? I am using the PMMD and Mgamer root tabs, should I be supplimenting anything else.

It depends.......I add it because I know adding excess/non limiting amounts rules out a deficiency.

This is MUCH more about growing plants and much less about killing algae. PMDD started off as balance between these two issues,m but later folks have realized it is ALL about growing plants well.
In other words, an ounce of prevention is worth 100lbs of cure.

Sediment + water column + low/moderate light........and then really hammer on the CO2 management and care.

Add lots and lots of Amano shrimp etc.

Better them than you.

Agreed, I am not dosing for algae prevention I am looking for plant growth. The only real issue (not a big one) is the bba I have on my crinum calamistratum. It's such a slow grower. My co2 is stable at 30ppm, and I've direct dosed excel, but it just won't leave. Other than that just some mild GSA.

Well, the original idea was to supply everything in non limiting fashion EXCEPT for PO4 with PMDD:

http://www.thekrib.com/Plants/Fertilizer/pmdd-tim.html

A few of us quickly falsified the hypothesis about PO4, then went after the other nutrients, NO3, K+, Fe, CO2 etc.............

CO2 and a horde of amano shrimp will help quite a bit for the BBA.

The mild GSA is also either or both CO2/limited PO4.

So both suggest = CO2 and maybe some mild PO4 issues.

Light and CO2 are 90% of this, nutrients/dosing is pretty easy if those 1st two are done right. See/read this for the light/CO2:

So that I order the right stuff...KH2PO4 is the same as PO4 correct?

I have 1 Amano currently, I wanted to see how the Angels would do with him in the tank and so far so good..He is a good size. So I am in the process of adding maybe 2 more.

re: the 1st 2 links..I already had the link to these and have read them. I think a lot of this is so over my head (ferts) that's why I wanted a "simple" solution (PMDD). I will stick with it this go around and if I dont really notice much improvment I will move to the EI.

A large pack of amano shrimp will really keep a tank clean of algae and prevent it from taking hold FYI...........good critters.

Tom & Mgamer = I guess I can cut back a little on the dosing (1 drop per gallon) ? I am getting a little GDA and more than normal GSA? I use to never have to clean my glass but this morning there was a lot of GDA.

Even with the PMDD, you definately should notice big improvements. EI is just another way of "fine tuning" things which is a great thing. ;)
