When I was growing up as a child in the 70's, I had two goldfish in a one gallon bowl. One was a fantail goldfish, and the other a black moor. (at least that is what they were called back then) God only knows how those fish lived for years!! My father, who felt he was somewhat of a knowledgeable fish person, allowed this with approval, as long as I changed their water every day. I did, and I never used a de-chlorinator, ever! Who even knew what that was back then?! Oh, those poor fish, I feel for them, looking back. Now I have a nice big pond in my backyard where I can spoil my current goldfish, and admire them as they grow to 12" or so in size. I would never go back to putting a goldfish in a little bowl with no filtration, now that I know what goldfish truly require in order to live long, healthy lives. They might live for quite a while in a bowl, but I don't think they will live happily like that.:headshake2:

you would be better off getting a tank that is big enough for an adult goldfish. most tanks aren't even big enough. goldfish and bowls just don't mix.

The biggest fishbowl I've ever seen manufactured is 4 gallons.
You'd have to get a huge one custom-made if you want to keep Goldfish in it.. which suddenly sounds very interesting to me.

wouldn't the glass have to be really thick to be able to support 150 gallons? it also might impair the view into the bowl if you have really thick glass that curves, i know some people that hate their bowfronts because of this.

I've also seen where city dwellers have used really big planters boxes and bowls lined them with pond liner and bingo deck pond.
step out of the box..they don't have to be glass.

me too. sometimes tho i have to shake the glass cuz the goldfish start going to the top for air and i find that very annoying and not attractive for the aesthetic side of it all
