I think one of the biggest problems with bowls, besides filtration, size etc. is that there not the right shape, bowls just don't work out there is not a big enough opening at the top to allow gas exchange for the amount of water people put in there. plus they just look weird, you cant view the fish very well when they are being contorted by the convex shape of the glass.
and keeping goldfish in bowls is illegal in a few country's so that should mean something.
 
now that im older and wiser.... no. but my first tank i won 6 goldfish from the fair (one didnt make it home even) and put them in a 10 gallon which they lived only about a year before dying. im suprised they lived that long. and i have felt very guilty about that :shakehead:
 
You know what's strange, anytime I hear fishbowl, I automatically think of the drum-shaped ones rather than the more typical round ones.

I have used the drums a couple of times, they're much easier to filter than the round ones and won't distort the view.
 
That's debatable too.. but people have different opinions.
 
I found my betta was much happier, larger, more colorful, and active in my 800g pond than the betta I had in a 1g oct. tank.
 
It'd be alot easier on people of the poll makers would be a little more specific.

Like added 1 important part, like 12" or something.

So sure. Show me $50k And I'll get you a link to my 300 gal goldfish "bowl". And probably toss in an invite for anyone at AC to come and see it in person.

Back on what was most likely your intion of an easily aquried, production line "Goldfish Bowl". Well, duh, no!

And like was mentioned. No they shouldn't even sell a bowl labeled as a "goldfish" bowl.
They shouldn't even sell goldfish or alot of cichlids and alot of other fish.

So really, they shouldn't sell "Any" fish or other pets to anyone without a licsense to keep said pet.

But this is what happens when we get to have some freedom.

Anyway...
when making a "poll" please use a little specifics. It would make life alot easier.

This is the equivelent to... "My water tested fine" ...said the LFS guy as he sold me 6 more of 3 different fish for my 10g tank that I started up three days ago. To go along with the red tailed cat, and the pacu.

Well, being that this is a general, hypothetical question, there are no specifics...
I didn't realize it would be hard for some people to understand a simple question like "do you think goldfish belong in bowls?"

Sorry if I confused you, and sorry if this poll made your life more difficult in any way.
