Polyester batting ok for floss?

Ok I dug around my wifes sewing stuff and found a bag of polyester stuffing..........It is from Walmart and says:

Manufacturer Eversoft
100 % polyester stuffing
Non allergenic................

The only thing I read that I might be concerned with is that it says it is "Mildew Proof" Is this treated to stop mildew or is it just the nature of polyester?

I've called the company and they are to get back to me but I thought I would ask here first.

Generally mildew proof means something is added. Polyester is just a plastic so mildew can grow on it if the right conditions are met. They would need to add something to stop it from happening.

I'm gonna go with TKOS and gsk177 on this one. If it is mildew proof, it is likely chemically treated. Better safe than sorry when it comes to an aquarium full of fish in a cycled tank. It's a pain to lose fish and a greater pain (to me anyway) to lose a cycle. Plus, the polyester pillow stuffing at Wal-Mart is generally very cheap, so there is no sense in my mind, to not just shell out a few bucks and get something that I know is safe.

This stuff is treated with silcone so it won't be going in the filter, I wll be heading out to Walmart or other stores to look for some other nontreated poly..................

I found what to get..............Went to Walmart and looked around...Got a product made by Mountain Mist (www.mountainmistlp.com)........Fiberloft 100% polyester fiberfill.

I called them and they said this is what others use in tanks, no chemical treatments of any type just the polyester.

$4.33 for a 1 lbs bag (In Ontario) for about the same amount form Big Als it is ~$10..........This is what I will be using now.

Well I've had this in since Friday and the water looks great, tests great (as usual) and the fish seem fine.

I like the idea of using this now and I think I will only go with my carbon every once in a while to purify the water......
