the uv has also been off now since yday plus i`ve done a 25ltr water change still no change at the moment apart from algae is starting to form on the leather which i`ll remove l8r on...
i doubt its the UV but you never know. like Niko said they should only be on when needed. this is mostly due to the fact that they will always fry some of the microbes you want.
I share Germanman sentiments exactly, however the cheep black diamond carbon does rather well when its a FO tank, but when we look to our reef tanks, we need to go a bit further then black diamond and as for the UV, I never when running a soft coral tank ever had a UV, when we talk of corals, UV just doesn't mix in well. I say you should lose the UV. Run ultraviolet lights as well, I think that is what their called>
after a few weeks the leather has finally kicked back so its always worth to hang in there i guess i have also added this other leather as i feel you cant go wrong with a few different types of leathers in a reef
