Hi all,
Some of you may know I had tried hatching my clutch of eggs for three weeks I found in a ditch last March 2008. After 20 survived, I whittled them down to 3 due to tight wallet the past few months since I had some tanks going.
I raised them since April 2008 and I'm happy to say I have 2 females and 1 male after a close observation of their shells and behavior with the aid of applesnail.net. So far, the male has been horny lately.:banhim:
Last week, I was given a surprise when I found a first clutch of eggs in the bucket where I placed them temporarily while their tank was still in the works. The pink eggs turned palest white last November 20. Yesterday, I saw the eggs exhibiting moldy appearance so I was curious as to what was really happening. I had to squint because the bucket is deep.lol I was shocked when one egg seems empty already. I found a pink dot at the bottom and sure enough, it was a baby snail. It took only eight days for the eggs to hatch.
On the same day, my snails laid their second clutch this time in the tank.:grinyes: The clutch is larger than ever. It was on the night before I noticed my female snail somewhat larger than I had seen her. I rubbed my eyes not believing what I am seeing and I thought it was just my imagination. She never left the corner of the tank the whole night while the other two are gorging on the cucumber.
Probably by next week, I'll end up with about 200 snails.
