I am going to start construction on a new pond next month to replace the one I have that is too small and is there a way I can build my own pond filter that is inexpensive and can be built with basic materials?

Bio-Filtration

Love that Mustang. LOL My husband and I have been building our own bio-filters for years and in the 23 years we've been in the pond hobby, it's the best filtration system we've ever used. If you want to take a look at how to build this filter, check out our clubs website at: www.geocities.com/ont_pondkeper

Very easily made and inexpensive.

Yours Koily, Lorraine

The best filter I ever "built" was one of those watercourse things from HD. It has three (I guess you'd call them) chambers, or areas of flow. The first had lava rock and gravel in an old t-shirt sown into a bag. The second had more gravel, and the third had waterhyacinth. Pretty much took care of bio and mechanical filtration. I was using a 1000gph (at 0 feet) pump with a sponge pre-filter, and 1-1.25" tubing. All this in a 125gal pond. Water quality was perfect.

Wow Lorraine, never thought I'd see you on an aquarium board LOL I see the club's web site has grown. We should chat about getting our clubs together for a meeting.
