Hi, I am a new homeowner and want to put in a backyard pond. I have fairly extensive experience with both FW and SW tanks so that part of it isn't really an issue. Has anyone ever had experience with one of the pond kits that you buy at Home Depot? Costco also has a nice looking one for about $200. Are they worth getting? How complete are they really? Am I looking at substantially more money to complete it?

Thanks

Pond kits & the suchlike

This is the lazy mans guide to putting in a pond.
First buy a preformed pond. Dont dig it in put bricks around it Its Easier.
Buy a kit by all means but make sure it has the following items.
I pool
2 Pump
3 Filter.
4 pipework for the filter.
5 waterproof plugs.
Use a pre formed filter like the blagdon or green genie They dont flog these things because they dont work!
Plug in the filter, put the pump IN the pond.
Start it up & wait a few days to put fish in
Easy isnt it & IT REALLY WORKS.
Just come back to the forum when the fish die & learn the EASY WAY.
Learn about your fish & your water first. If you are a fishkeeper the easy way isnt allways the best but a kit will get you caught & they are value for money.
