Get an EPDM rubber liner of at least 45 mil thickness. Other liner types, especially PVC, break down quickly, and thinner liners are more likely to be punctured.

Should I go with the EPDM linear or one of those hard linear insert ponds? I saw one the other day at Home Depot thats a 125g pond and I believe it was 3 1/2' deep. Would that work or would linear be best?
Also what should I do for a filter? Don't really want something sitting in the middle of the pond doing a water feature. We are maybe thinking of putting a little pump in it to have a figure squirt the water in the pond, but what should we do for a main filter?
Another question I have is, if I go with the insert kind pond do I drill a hole in that for the filter or just put PVC laying on the ground and have it go into the pond like that? Same question with the EPDM linear.
