I believe they're pond snails that just appeared in my tank last week. There's like 4 that I counted right now. Maybe there's more?? Not sure.

Anyways, I have plants. Is this fine? One sources say they eat plants a lot, is this true?

Also, all my hydra in my tank disappeared. I just noticed it last night. Wow.

I have common pond snails in all my planted tanks other than those housing puffers (where they are food, so cannot survive). I have never seen any damage from these snails to healthy plants. Like common ramshorn snails and MTS, they will and do eat decaying plants, but that is a clean-up function and desirable.

In theory there are species of pond snails which can/will damage aquatic plants, but in all my years in the hobby I've never run into any of them.
