Pool Filter Sand Clarification

Judging from the sizes of CaribSea Super Naturals, sounds like it would be fine. Otos, btw, don't spend much time on sand as they can't really feed on it; they love wood, rocks are good and the tank walls, of course!

It sounds fine if you like the way it looks & it may look different in the tank.

The too sharp 20 grit I saw was big & very pointy & poked small holes in the heavy duty plastce bags. Pool sand needs to allow water to flow through it & trap particulates without clogging. It doesn't compact.

If sand is too sharp for sand sifters I think they won't sift it, same with diggers but bottom dwellers don't get much choice, JMO. Maybe that's why my kuhlis don't dig but I don't think #0 is too sharp, I think it's because the food doesn't go down into it, just sits on top for the most part.

Would it be ok to mix in some white sand, like CaribSea's Moonlight sand, to make it look a little lighter? Or could they end up seperating or creating anaerobic spaces?

I have tan #0 in a tank, my Q tank has white 20? grit but when I recently moved kuhlis a tiny sprinkle of white sand came along. It seems very noticable to me just parked on top so I don't know...
