pool filter sand question....

Make sure you get a decent size too...too small and the fish kick it up into your filter and can cause damage
Too big and you basically end up with smaller sized gravel and there's no point to having sand at all

If it's too fine you can always attach some filter floss to the intake to prevent any sand from getting kicked up into the filter itself

Not sure how fine 20 grit is

The sand I have in my tank is so fine it's like mud almost

I think it was 99% silica 1% argonite (sp?) from home depot $8 for 50lb bag

With the filter floss constantly on the filter intake I haven't had any issues for the past 2 months so far (knock on wood)

I know as the loaches get bigger they will kick the sand up much more violently so I can't say I'm in the clear quite yet

But so far so good
