my mollies had babies about three weeks ago and yesterday i noticed her right eye bulging out and it is covered with a white haze over it.she seems fine, eats normally and otherwise shows no symptoms.i have been doing waterchanges every 3 days and the water parameters are normal too.water temp is at 78.i did a 50% waterchange last night after i noticed her eye problem and added some medicin for fungus and bacteria but so far it looks like it has gotten worse instead of better.i can not add salt to the aquarium since i also have corydoras in there.any suggestions?
thanks

the time and medications for popeye will cost to much... one the fish starts leaning to its side and just looks bad flush it and say rip its all you can do

You don't just flush a fish if it's not already dead. That is so cruel. It will die a painful death with all of those chemicals eating away at him! Britta, if you do decide that it is too much to fix the fish, please, please make sure you do it more humane than just tossing it down the can.

(p.s. the definition of a humane death is unconciousness within one minuite, and death within 3)

There is an article in the "article section" of this site about popeye.

"It is commonly caused by excess gas in the system, brought about by super-saturation of gas in high pressure water mains. It can also be associated with Dropsy or Ichthyosporidium. Look for bubbles of gas in the eyes, this indicates the bends, as does nervous upset, distress or just odd movements. If these signs are obvious then lower the temperature slowly to increase solubility of the gas (usually nitrogen) reduce aeration and wait to see if there is any improvement."

if that doesnt help it is best to euthinize your fish. The best way to put your fish to rest is to put it in a bucket of crushed ice and water, or put it in a bucket with water and clove oil; enough oil should knock the fish out perminantly.

best of luck

That has to be the worst advise i have ever seen.

Rather than post something like that, why dont you help them instead of telling them to be an animal abuser?
