Possibilities of Breeding.

Honestly I would take the bitterling tank as an excuse to set up a nice river tank with tons of moss and no nitrate, lol.

Here are some others:

Gertrude's Rainbow: Beautiful, tiny annuals
Killifish: Beautiful, and too expensive. If you offered a lyretail species under $20, people would jump on them.
Pygmy Sunfish: Small and easy to breed
Celestial Peal Danios: Endangered!
Boraras Rasboras: easy to breed and in high demand
One of the other Labyrinth fish species-beautiful!
Those rhinogobius species I wrote about yesterday on the tiny freshwater fish discussion thread-I want some, lol.

hmm, lyretail killifish are very neat looking, I will have to do a little research as to what it takes to breed those, they may be possible.

Celestial Pearls are pretty neat looking, probably hard to get though.

borara's are ok, I dont see why they are all that high demand personally.

Gertrudes Rainbow is freaking cool looking though.

celestrial pearls have been breed in captivity now and they arent as hard to get my lfs has a tank full of them but i heard it is still semi difficult to breed them

i agree on betta's!

I have a pair that is almost ready to put the eggs in the bubble nest, so if you get yours set up, i could tell you what NOT to do...considering i did alot wrong so far XD.

Plus it is REALLY amusing to watch the male show off to the female and try to impress her...then her just turn away. lol

German Blue Rams are definately a consideration since most of the LFS here charge like 15$ a peice, freaking people. I have really enjoyed their look too. I will have to look into their requirements.

Betta's... Breeding betta's would be pretty fun, the only problem is that I am very particular about betta's, I would have to breed crowntails I think. Not only that but I would want specific colors. Very rarely do I find a crowntail on Aquabid that makes me stop and go "SWEET, I want that betta" so actually... that would be a good reason to attempt to breed them. Unfortunately, the ones that do make me stop are bred overseas, start at like 30$, and then I have to pay import fee's or whatever.... Which sucks. But definately an option.

Has anyone ever considered breeding Royal Farlowella cats? aka whiptail cats? I hear they are easy, and yet no one ever has them around here...

I'd agree with breeding the Celestial Pearls. They're a bit of investment and not the easiest to breed, but it cold help to lower the wild caught demand and lower the price in the hobby for beautiful fish.

Lupin, I could almost swear you have this entire forum memorized, any time someone mentions something you can pull up a link to it, lol. Its really cool that he got those to breed, those are just plain farlowella from what I can see, royal farlowella has a pretty large dorsal fin on it, other than that they look pretty similar.

Celestial pearls seem pretty popular for someone to start breeding. I will have to look into it more.
