I saw a beautiful halfmoon betta on aquabid last weekend and decided to get him monday night (which is when I sent payment).
With the payment I sent a note asking him to notify me if I would not get the package by this Friday. It is traveling from Florida to Oklahoma City and I chose USPS Priority because I figured it would get here in time.
I recieved an e-mail the next day telling me that he was going to ship it Wednesday morning. (shouldnt it have been Tues. morning?)
Now I went to my mailbox today (Friday) and did not recieve the fish. I know it would be a MIRACLE for this little guy to survive over the 3-day weekend.
What should I do about this? Do I just eat the $38 I spent on him? Do I give him negative feedback for waiting a day to "get it ready to ship" when, in my opinion, a fish should be ready the moment you post it to an auction? I dont have much exp with aquabid so please help!
:help:

I probably would have asked him to ship after the trip . Do you have a neighbor or friend that can come check on it for you ? IMO I'd worry more about the fish than feedback or anything like that.

no trackin number or anything? if the post office is open saturday call ur local usps and see if u can find it. thts my advice

Wait until the shipment arrives before taking action. If the fish is DOA, email the seller with proof (take a picture) and give him a chance to correct the issue. If he does not correct the issue, then give him a negative feedback. You may also try to dispute the charges through Paypal.

No offense, but you should have enquited about shipping prior to buying the fish...perhaps the seller was incapable of shipping on Monday or Tuesday (the only two days that I will ship livestock). There is actually a pretty good chance that the fish will, provided proper packaging, be alive come Tuesday (a non-anabantoid would be dead for certain)...but wait until Wednesday, and until after contacting and speaking with the seller, before making any decisions on feedback.

here was his reply
Hello,
I don't remember a problem with the bags themselves, I
think the problem comes in if the package is exposed
to too much heat or the workers throw the boxes around
carelessly. Shipping is $27 express USPS for
overnight or $12 USPS priority mail. I can ship up to
4 fish in the container. Thanks
Chris
The note I sent with the payment read
Note:
Please send PAIR (with female) as advertised. Please mark package "VERY FRAGILE"
for shipment.
Please notify me ASAP if this can NOT get to me by Friday.
much thanks,
Devon

I do not get mail here on Saturdays, however, I will contact him and try to get some sort of tracking number. Maybe I can go to the OKC post office and have them look up my name?

I too am most worried about the fish living. I had just figured that 6 days for a fish to be in a bag would be WAY too long.

with usps you can get delivery confirmation(tracking) always ask for it. it's only like $.50 more (right fifty cents) when I ship usps I always ask for it. usps is only about $4 and the boxes are free. I order thru usps and they mail the boxes, labels tape etc to my house free.
now that being said..Priority mail will usually get to you with in 3 days..If I ship on saturday most packages arrive on monday or tuesday.

express take no more than 2 days including the shipping day(normally)
the best way to ship live is either ups express/overnite (silver label I think) or fed ex overnite. they will have it to you the next day. but you pay for it.

I ordered 6 albino bn's it cost nearly $53 to ship it overnite..however..it is the only way most breeders will guarantee live delivery.n tghe seller should have explained these options to you. try contacting the seller and voice your concerns. and see what your options are.

You guys are awesome. Thanks for all of the info. He just contacted me and said that he meant he would "get them ready to ship tomorrow" and actually ship them out the beginning of the following week. So my fish are safe and sound with the shipper right now. He is going to send them out this Tuesday.
