Possibly getting a 100 Gallon in the next few days....well, I am, either a few days or eventually. I found one with a stand for 115$. Thing is, its a metal stand, im basically just interested in the tank.

I will be looking to build a planted/aquascaped tank. I want to give it a shot at an aquascape, on this level:

So I know Im going to need alot of light, and alot of filtration. I will be going canister, and I will be over filtered.

What I need input on, is a Co2 system, a cheap/nice gravel that wont stunt the growth. I will be using Seachem's Fert system.

As for a stand, Im not using the iron stand, i plan on making a wooden stand with possibly a canopy top.

Any input would be great !

PS: This will be a long build....

well first off what lighting are you planing on using. that usually dictates what type of tank you will be building (low tech or high tech) this will also dictate if you use CO2 or not. if you do end up going high light then you defiantly want to use pressurized CO2 on that sized tank.

here are three of the best places to get regulators

For substrate you might look into SMS (soil master select) or Sholtzes aquasiol

Ill have to look up prices on those soils. Not exactly sure on lighting yet

Something bright :)

Sweet, thats the kind of price range im looking for on substrate, since Ill need ALOT

Here's a substrate calculator, dont know if you have the common 100gal footprint or not.

And for the Ferts, dont go with Seachem, in a volume that big, you'll be going through the 2L bottles of it, go with dry ferts. www.aquariumfertilizer.com is a great place for getting dry ferts.

And for lighting you can get get by with 4x54watt T5 HO, and if you need more light you can easily add another 2x54watt strip.

Thanks for the info Riiz!

set your standards lower. if you shoot for the best from the start and this is new you will never be happy. i would go with t5 ho for lighting or cf from ahsupply.com. co2 would almost be a must though you can have a wonderful looking tank with out it just low light set up. personally in a 100 i would go with eco or flourite in that big of a tank. they dont make sms any more its not turface but its light in weight. plants can be pulled out easy in a larger tank its harder to get down into to scape. again like the others i wouldnt go with Seachem ferts but dry ferts.
