beautiful tank!

Wow so nice, wish my water could support discuss, maybe if I buy an RO unit. I like the way those big plants fill up the aquarium, I see you bought them. You know becasue they are so buoyant (floaters) they are a little hard to handle and manage and the base stems will sometimes pull out. I fix that by coating the anchor tray inside and base stems with silicone sealant then filling tray with pea size gravel, them more clear silicone sealant on top to keep the gravel and stems put and anchor the plant. After curing the bases and stems stay put, no more buoyant issues or having to re-anchor and the gravel looks natural but doesn't fall out. You could so the same with sand also.

Thanks Gunner - As for the plants, Yep I got some and I like them a lot! I just Tie Strapped them to some big rocks and buried them under the sand! If the come loose I will just Tie em better! lol

IMO - Don’t mess with a RO system, it’s not needed. I had one and got rid of it. They can lead to a lot of problems and open you up to ph swings and what not. It’s a head ache you just don’t need. I get most of my Discus from Huston. They have hard water with High ph! As long as you slowly acclimate your new fish over to your tank they will be fine. At first I thought they needed soft water and low ph and so on. But what is important is stability! They do fine with 7.6+ ph in hard water. As I said all the fish at houstonaquariumwarehouse.com are kept in these conditions and you would be hard pressed to find better stock!

SO don’t fear the Discus because of your water ph/hardness. They do take attention and a lot of fresh water /changes. I am sure you would do well with them if you wanted to.

My Gobi lives in a cave like that nice. Do you ever worry that a rock will slip off and hit the glass, I do and why I don't stack then past one tier but I would like to. I was thinking maybe some glued on velcro contact points might be a way to stack higher without worries. Your rocks look great, are they real and just gravity stacked?

Thanks gunner. They are all real rocks, mostly from my yard. I set them on eggcrate first, then added the sand for a good base. The every one I stacked, I put some pressure on and tried to rock it before I let it stay. Everything is very stable. I put a couple of small scratches in the glass when I was arranging them:irked:.
