It is a male, the female dorsal fin is about half as long and more rounded. His looks a little rounded because he got nipped by something about a month ago, not sure what did it, but all suspects are now out of his tank (pleco, chinese algae eater, and cheraux blue lobster).
 
personally, i think all of my fish are beautiful..but i'd have to say this little sunshine discus takes the cake :)

They get about 5-6 inches and are freshwater fish. They are not the most active of species, spending most of the time hidden in the plants or buried in the substrate waiting to ambush their prey. A species only tank for these ones.

This is the only other pic I have of him, in stalking mode. He like to blend in with the crypts.
