Yeah its quickrete medium contractors sand from Lowes

I use Excel 10 ml a day, then I dose EI method somewhat using dry ferts KNO3, K2SO4, CaCl2 and epsom salt for magnesium. I also dose 5 ml of flourish comp 2 times a week.

Both tanks use 1.75 wpg of compact fluorescents.

The 55 I dose a tsp of KNO3 a month, slow growing plants don't use much and the fish load keeps the levels pretty stable. Also 1 or 2 times a week 5 ml of Flourish comp.
