I have seen pics of tanks, where people take clay flower type pots and break them up to make them into caves (great idea by the way) and I thought it looked very cool. So that is what I want to do to my tank, can I use the plastic version of the pot (plastic instead of clay)? Or is the plastic bad for the fish, the reason I ask my local lowes and Wal-Mart do not have any small 2.5" clay pots only in plastic. They do have the large clay pots just not the kind i need.:help:

Check Home Depot if you have one close or maybe some local landscape and garden center places.......This is a bad time of year to be trying to find pots probably since most stores are letting all the garden departments sell down until next spring when the flower boom hits..... I got my 4" terra cotta clay pots about a month ago at Lowes and the selection was pretty slim then.

I think plastic pots will go brittle fairly quickly in an aquarium. The plastic usually isn't very high quality, unless you get the expensive ones. You can also use pvc pipe for caves, if you can't find terracotta pots. Just cut to length, cut holes in the sides if you want, and it can be painted with Krylon Fusion paint if you don't like the white.

Yeah never thought of that... A Hobby Lobby maybe

yeah my local craft store has lots of them in all sorts of sizes.
